Hello…
Heeeey! I had a bunch of newbies join this here mailing list. So I wanted to send you all a yeaaaah gidday mate. I’m sure you knew who’s whatnots you were signing up for but just in case - Hey! I’m Rob Lisle.
Way back in the day when the internet was first becoming a thing, my Dad said “Son, never put your real name on the internet.” So, I went by Spedsy. Now I awkwardly go by both.
I’m a writer/illustrator from Melbourne, Australia. I make comic books mostly. Here in this bloggy mailing list, I get a little too honest sometimes about the inner workings of my dome piece while sharing bits and pieces of what I’m working on.
Thank you…
So, THANK YOU! For signing up for this nonsense, reading it, liking it etc. And a huge thank you to the paid subscribers who keep me feeling guilty about how infrequent I post. I have had a few requests to go deeper into my process of making stuff which I will endeavor to do so moving forward. But, dollars or no dollars - I’m just stoked you are all here. Thank you.
Woo…
Ben Sullivan and I have been meeting weekly at the factory for the last 8 months or so to jam on ideas and put together concept pitches for a kid’s graphic novel. After a few maybes and a great many no thank yous, we landed a sweet little publishing deal this week.
Collaboration can be tricky sometimes. So when you find someone that you just click with both creatively and as a friend - hold on to them. Ben and I both bring different bits and pieces to the table each week and it is the greatest joy when the other person adds an element or two that makes those bits and pieces connect and become a solid idea.
Making stuff is fun!
We’ll talk more and more about it as it gets closer. But right now - we have to make the damn thing.
Duh…
Vamoose 4 has not been forgotten. I hope to launch the Kickstarter in just a couple of weeks. In the lead-up to that, we’ll be making announcements about the guest writers and artists. Starting with these two guys…
I mean… obviously.
Other bits and pieces…
Peter Lane and I will be appearing at Yarraville Comic Book & Toy Fair together on June 30th pimping our Skye’s Cavern Library/Vamoose crossovers.
I was honoured to be asked to host the 50th episode of Leigh Chalker’s Tuesday Night Chinwag. It was time the show’s regular host became the guest, so I got to captain the ship. We laughed… we damn near cried. It was a hell of an episode.
Have you watched SPONTOON yet? My brother Broni, and illustrator Hayden Morris, have created an improvised cartoon that is one hell of a ride. Well worth a look if you can spare the clicks.
Alrighty, well thank you again! And if there are things you’d like to see/read from me in this bloggy thing let me know.
Yeah gidday mate!
